Class FAQs

Q: How do I sign up for a class at Brooklyn Guitar School?
A: It is easy to sign up on-line or by phone. To sign up on-line, click on the "sign-up" button next to the class you want to take and follow the subsequent directions. To register by phone call the school at 718-855-5400 with your Visa, Mastercard or American Express. We are happy to hold your spot in a class for you for a week, if you prefer to come in with cash or a check or to send a check.

Q: Can I actually learn to play guitar in the 10 week Guitar For Absolute Beginners class?
A: YES! If you can practice three times per week during the course, then your success is assured! After ten weeks you may not wish to immediately perform in Madison Square Garden--but you will be able to play basic and enjoyable songs with satisfaction and pride.

Q: How do I know what class level to take?
A: If you have absolutely no guitar experience, then Guitar For Absolute Beginners is the right class for you! Otherwise, the best way to be sure which class is right for you is to call us at 718-855-5400. We'll help you choose the class that is right for you!

Q: What order do the classes go in?
A: For an absolute beginner, classes would progress as follows: Guitar for Absolute Beginners is followed in order by Guitar for Near Beginners, Guitar for Intermediate Beginners and finally Guitar for Advanced Beginners. After that students can take a wide variety of electives, including Blues Guitar Basics, Lead Guitar, Rock and Blues Lead Workshop, Rock Band, Fingerstyle and Flamenco .

Q: What if I have to miss a class session?
A: No problem! We have several options available to you! First, you are welcome to sit in on the same session of a different section of your class. You are also welcome to drop by our NYC school and take a free mini-lesson that will last 15 minutes. These are one-on-one lessons that will go over all the material in the particular class you missed. And lastly, if none of the other options work for you, you can apply the full amount of your class to a private lesson in your home. Of course, we will always be more than happy to e-mail you a copy of the missed lesson materials. Just call 718-855-5400 to arrange for your make-up class or session.
